If you decide to solve the problem of myopia, hyperopia or astigmatism, you need to know that from the very next day:

You will not need glasses or contact lenses.
You will be able to get back to your work immediately
You will be able to drive safely.

PRK METHOD: This method is effective and is advisable in cases of small corneal thickness. It is performed with abrasion of the corneal epithelium and application of a corrective contact lens for 72 hours. This method lasts about 3 minutes and is done using a local anesthetic in the form of eye drops. The correction degree is calculated with a modern computer using specialized software.

LASIK METHOD (Conventional Lasik and Femto-Lasik):)This method is effective and painless. It is used to correct medium and high degrees of myopia and astigmatism, while it is the only method used to correct hyperopia. Its advantages are plenty, because this therapy is applied on the corneal stroma after the creation of protective tissue (flap). There are two ways to create the flap:Conventional LASIK, where the creation of the flap is performed by a mechanical microkeratome and FEMTO-LASIK, where it is performed by femtosecond laser. (Conventional LASIK is no longer used in EyeClinic. Learn why.)With the new femtosecond laser technology, the laser is applied even in the first stage of the surgery, so that the LASIK procedure can be completed without the need to use a “scalpel” in any of the stages. Its name is derived from the number of pulses per second in which this particular laser operates in particular, microscopical, rapid laser pulses are used, which operate in the infrared zone of the light spectrum and, in combination with the extremely short time of activity and the slight amount of energy, they achieve photodisruption of the tissue on which they fall (the cornea). Photodisruption is visible in the form of a bubble, which, in the end, is the force with which the FEMTOSECOND LASER. cuts the tissues. Subsequently, the doctor creates the flap by lifting the tissue of the cornea towards the back, at the point where the bubbles have been formed due to the light pulses. The creation of the flap lasts merely 15 seconds. That is the time when the surgeon can move on to the second stage of the procedure, that is the full correction of the refraction and the restoration of vision.

Postoperative medication lasts only ten days, while vision is fairly good from the very first day. The degree of correction is also calculated by specialized software.

WHEN CAN YOU DO THE SURGERY?

When there is no chronic condition of the cornea or the retina.
When the degrees of myopia, astigmatism, or hyperopia are over 1.00.
When there's no change in degrees for at least a year.
When you are over 18 years of age.

HOW LONG DOES THE PROCEDURE LAST AND HOW PERMANENT ARE THE RESULTS?

The procedure lasts about 5 to 6 minutes for both eyes and the correction is permanent and can't deteriorate with time.

PREOPERATIVE TESTS

It is a series of tests, which will reveal if the necessary requirements are met, in order for the patient to undergo surgery. Potential use of contact lenses will need to stop 10 days prior to the preoperative tests.

COMPLICATIONS

After 17 years of laser usage, the chances of serious complications are minimal. Even the most rare can be treated. We are now in a position to say that the chances of infection from contact lenses are higher than the possible complications of refractive surgery.

Thorough preoperative tests.

THE DAY OF THE PROCEDURE:

You should not use perfume, cosmetics or hair spray, since their potential evaporation can affect the proper function of the LASER.
It would be advisable not to drive immediately following the procedure, so you should have someone accompany you to the clinic.
Sun glasses are necessary for your departure from the refractive center.

THE NEXT DAY

-Wash your hair, but keep your eyes closed.
-Drive.
-Go to work.
-Avoid cosmetics on and around the eyelids for 10 days.

In case there are some degrees left, an additional procedure can be done to achieve full correction.
